GOODWOOD LAUNCHES ITS 2011 MOTOR SPORT SEASON

Festival of Speed and Revival founder Lord March was joined by a host of famous faces at Goodwood House on Thursday 17 March to announce exciting plans for the 2011 Goodwood motor sport season.

Lord March ran though the highlights of what to look forward to at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed (1-3 July), Moving Motor Show (30 June) and Revival (16-18 September), supported by a host of motor sport stars, including Formula One drivers Mika Hakkinen, Jochen Mass, Desiré Wilson and Bruno Senna, motorcycle competitors Guy Martin, James Haydon and Paul Smart, rally stars Andreas Mikkleson, Jimmy McRae and Russell Brooks, and circuit racer legends Paul Radisich, Richard Attwood and Anthony Reid. In addition, golfer Sir Nick Faldo, TV chef James Martin, comedian Ross Noble and model Yasmin le Bon with her daughter Amber on hand.

The Goodwood Revival really is a magical step back in time, a unique chance to revel in the glamour and allure of motor racing in the romantic time capsule of the golden era of motor racing at one of the world’s most authentic circuits.

The Revival is the world’s most popular historic motor race meeting and the only event of its kind to be staged entirely in the nostalgic time capsule of the 1940s, 50s and 60s that relives the glory days of Goodwood Motor Circuit. It is the biggest and best historic motor racing party of the year.

Taking place since 1929, the Monaco F1 Grand Prix is widely considered to be one of the most significant and famous automobile races in the world.

The Monaco GP race is held on a narrow course laid out in the streets of Monaco, with several elevation changes, tight corners and a tunnel, making it one of the most challenging tracks in Formula One. Even though the average speeds are quite low, the Monaco circuit remains a dangerous place to race.

The Rolex European Polo Championship will be the largest event of its kind. 10 nations will be competing for the European polo crown, including Austria, Belgium, England, France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, the Netherlands, Spain and Switzerland.

The Rolex European Championship will be hosted from September 4 to September 14 at manor Aspern close to Hamburg, Germany.
